About Us

Servicios Latinos de Burlington County, Inc. (Sel-Buc) is a private 501c3 non-profit human service agency, founded in February 3, 2000 by Angela Mateo Gonzalez. Sel-Buc’s mission is to advance the Hispanic population of Burlington County by providing individual clients with assistance in translation and the securing of education, employment, housing, transportation, health and other related services.

 

Some of the services that we offer our clients are: English as a Second Language (ESL) classes; Citizenship classes; Basic Immigration services; translation services; and general assistance for those seeking housing, solution to problems that affect their family, and directing clients to proper legal resources in our county and other Southern New Jersey areas.

Servicios Latinos hosts a number of events throughout the year including an annual Health Fair (which was the first Hispanic Health Fair in Burlington County), Taking Control of your Health Workshops (free, to promote self-management of chronic diseases), Cinco de Mayo Award Celebration, Hispanic Heritage Concert, Christmas Toy Drive and Children’s Holiday Party, Thanksgiving turkey distribution for needy families and immigration workshops.

 

Servicios Latinos (Sel-Buc) along with Angela Mateo Gonzalez (Executive Director) has received national, state, and local recognition through the following awards:

  • 2005 Leadership in Building Local System of Care by Partners For Kids and Families

  • 2004 Recognition during National Public Health week for contributions to eliminate health disparities by the Burlington                  County Board of Chosen Freeholder and the Burlington County Health Department

  • 2004 Recognition for dedication and service to the community by the Coalition Against Tobacco.

  • 2004 Woman of Achievement Award by the NJ State Federation of Women’s Clubs.

  • 2004 Recognition for Exceptional Service in the Public Interest by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

  • 2003 Women Who Inspire Us Award by Woman’s Day Magazine and Dove Soap

  • 2002 Burlington County Woman of the Year Award by the Burlington County Advisory Counsel on Women
